Quadrupled hotel prices, overpriced food and hordes of foreign buyers searching in group for “the latest” products – the Canton Fair (China Import and Export Fair – 2011 Spring Canton Fair) is the trade show that has become an institution and is almost upon us once more!

Founded in 1957, the bi-annual fair hosted in Guangzhou (a.k.a. Canton)(Which Johannes wrote an post about last month), is the largest trade fair in China, attracting visitors from all across the world is. The size of the fair reaches1 130,000 square meters and features some 20,000 exhibitors spread out over the fair’s three phases.

Canton fair starts at the 15 of April and ends on the 5th of May, expect hotels, restaurants etc. to heavily increase prices during the period. Also be aware of crime that see an increase during the fair.

Our staff will visit the Canton fair, but our main focus will be on the trade shows in Hong Kong which often have a higher quality and are easier to browse in comparison to our gigantic Chinese brother’s.
