Volkswagen is Sweden’s biggest importer of automobiles, with Volkswagen Transport being the market niche’s primary distributor of cars with a market share of almost 27%. Volkswagen enlisted Yourlink2asia to design and develop USB thumb drives that would be given to purchasers of the 2010 VW Amarok, that was voted in 2010 as International Pickup of the Year. VW cars are recognised by their high quality and performance, so it was important that our products be made to the same level of quality and detail as the cars themselves.

Step-by-step:

1. The first step was to analyse the VW Amarok itself and create a product specification that the Volkswagen agreed to. We then checked with our network of suppliers for the most appropriate one, and created a non-disclosure contract for the production.

2. A scaled-down USB thumb drive version of the VW Amarok was produced and rendered in 3D CAD software.

3. Based on the the digital 3D model, simple plastic prototypes were developed and the customer provided feedback and desired changes.

4. After the suggested changes had been implemented, a more detailed model was made and finalised for production.

5. We then began to design the packaging.

6. Example graphics for the packaging was printed and a prototype of the packaging was made.

7. Yourlink2asia’s inspection team went to the factory to inspect the production results.

8. The products were checked to make sure they fulfilled internal and external specifications by our quality control specialists experienced in western standards.

9. The products were sent from the factory in China to Hong Kong for final packaging and export to Sweden.

10. The packaging parts arrived in Hong Kong and were also checked for quality.

11. The products in Hong Kong were then individually packaged and prepared for export.

12. The outer boxes were marked for customs and shipped to the customer.
